๐๐ป Jacob here.
“Never split the difference.”
That’s the advice of master negotiator Christopher Voss.
Is his title purely provocation?
No.
Compromise can cost you big time.
Case in point: one of my clients was on the verge of closing a verbally agreed upon deal when legal stepped in and removed a single word that changed everything.
That one word slashed their guaranteed $1,000,000 bonus in half.
The client’s gut reaction?
Compromise with the CEO and move on.
But before they could act, I stepped in with a simple request.
Ask the CEO, “What happened?”
Two words. One ten-minute conversation. The result?
The CEO recognized the error, overruled the lawyers, and reinstated the deal as understood verbally.
My client walked away with an extra $500,000 in their pocket.
The takeaway?
In negotiation, every word matters.
Pay close attention and donโt give in.
Stay fearless, friends.
See you next week.
